For When The Threat Is Already Too Close

In 1983, Dennis Tueller of the Salt Lake City Police Department published in SWAT magazine an article called "How Close is Too Close?". In that article, he stated that a potential assailant could close a distance of 21 feet within 1.5 seconds - faster than most cops and concealed carriers can draw to protect themselves.

Since then, many training agencies in the defensive shooting world have used this knowledge to help their trainees understand the danger of letting a potentially belligerent individual get too close. Some have been trained to run backwards while drawing, some to move laterally, and others to not let threats get too close by being more aware of them.

There is another way, one that puts control and confidence back in your hands. Instead of moving backwards or laterally and risk tripping or fumbling the draw, we believe that you have the option to take the initiative away from an attacker by closing in, and maneuvering and disabling the threat, and finally, drawing your firearm if the situation still calls for it.

This, we believe, is a far better option as it is a more favorable use of force situation, where the discharging of your firearm is made unnecessary by using a lower level of force.

Any motivated individual can do this

We believe that most people can optimize their personal protection capabilities by first being trained to understand the way their body reacts when faced with a serious threat in the real world. Then, they can be conditioned to respond through a hybrid of Defensive Tactics and close range firearms training.

We've trained individuals who've come having only basic firearms training or elementary or non-existent martial arts training, but leave empowered with advanced personal protection capabilities that earns them the trust and respect of the people they care for should the need arise in the real world.

While crime rates have come down in the past years, there are also fewer sworn police officers in the United States. This has serious impacts in the real world ability of the police to provide personal protection, and it could be up to you to hold off a criminal with your firearms and Defensive Tactics training, until the police do get there.

To help with your personal protection and to help you protect your family, we've put together Bullet & Blade, a personal protection training seminar that combines real world Defensive Tactics with equally real world firearms proficiency.

If you want to improve your ability for personal protection with an intuitive ability to use a hybrid of Defensive Tactics and firearms skills to protect your family, join us!

All Firearms used in the personal protection and martial arts drills seen in this video were cleared at least three times by the instructor, assistant instructor, and the trainee. We recognize and respect that traditional firearms instructors are uncomfortable with muzzle sweeping, but contend that it can be done safely to give our trainees personal protection training that holds up in the real world.
